The Official Governing Body Dedicated to Sustainable Tourism and Hospitality in Pelling
Our story
Decades ago, Pelling was a hidden gem known only to a few trekkers and spiritual seekers. As the world began to discover the magic of West Sikkim—from the sacred Khecheopalri Lake to the majestic Kanchenjunga views—the local community realized that growth needed guidance.
The Pelling Tourism Development Association (PTDA) was formed not by a corporation, but by the sons and daughters of the soil. Hoteliers, homestay owners, vehicle drivers, and local guides came together with a singular vision: to share the beauty of our home with the world without losing the essence of who we are.
What started as a small gathering of neighbors has grown into the official governing body of Pelling’s hospitality sector. Today, we stand as the guardians of local culture, the standard-bearers of safety, and the bridge between the traveler and the true spirit of Sikkim.

We are more than just an association; we are the stewards of West Sikkim. Our work ensures that tourism enriches our community while protecting the fragile ecosystem of the Himalayas.
We enforce strict guidelines to ensure that development never comes at the cost of nature. From waste management initiatives to eco-friendly construction, we are committed to keeping Pelling green for generations to come.
Pelling is steeped in history, from the Rabdentse Ruins to the Pemayangtse Monastery. The PTDA works actively to preserve local traditions, festivals, and architecture, ensuring that visitors experience authentic Sikkimese culture, not a commercialized version of it
We regulate service standards across hotels, homestays, and transport to ensure fair pricing and safety. When you book with a PTDA member, you are guaranteed a secure, high-quality experience backed by the official community.
